Tone Matching Suite consists of four applications. Download what you need based on your role:

📦 Tone Matching Bundler

For researchers: Prepare data bundles from your Dekereke databases and audio recordings.

System Requirements

  • Windows: Windows 10 or later (64-bit)
  • macOS: macOS 10.13 or later (Intel and Apple Silicon)
  • Disk Space: ~150 MB

Windows Download

Windows Installation

  1. Download the .exe file
  2. Double-click to run the installer
  3. Follow the installation wizard
  4. Launch from Start Menu or desktop shortcut

macOS Download

Note: Universal build - works on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs.

macOS Installation

  1. Download the .dmg file
  2. Open the downloaded file
  3. Drag the application to your Applications folder
  4. Launch from Applications or Spotlight
  5. Note: On first launch, you may need to right-click and select "Open" to bypass Gatekeeper

🎯 Tone Matching Desktop

For native speakers and researchers: Listen to words and assign them to tone groups on your computer.

System Requirements

  • Windows: Windows 10 or later (64-bit)
  • macOS: macOS 10.13 or later (Intel and Apple Silicon)
  • Disk Space: ~150 MB

📱 Tone Matching Mobile

For native speakers: Classify tones on your Android phone or tablet in the field.

System Requirements

  • Platform: Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or later
  • Disk Space: ~50 MB
  • Permissions: Camera (for taking pictures of tone drawings), Storage (for loading bundles)

Android Download

⚠️ Not Updated in v2.1.0-alpha: The mobile app has not been updated for this alpha release. The linked bundle workflow (desktop apps only) is the focus of this release. Mobile app will be updated in future releases.

Android Installation

  1. Download the .apk file to your Android device
  2. Enable "Install from Unknown Sources" in Settings → Security
  3. Open the downloaded APK file
  4. Tap "Install" and follow prompts
  5. Grant camera and storage permissions when prompted
Note: This app is not available on Google Play Store. You must install it manually (sideload) using the APK file. This is normal for specialized linguistic research tools.

📊 Tone Matching Comparison

For researchers: Compare tone group assignments from multiple speakers and identify disagreements.

System Requirements

  • Windows: Windows 10 or later (64-bit)
  • macOS: macOS 10.13 or later (Intel and Apple Silicon)
  • Disk Space: ~150 MB

Verifying Your Download

For security, you can verify your downloaded files using SHA256 checksums. Visit the v2.1.0 release page for checksums.

  • Linked Bundle Workflow: Desktop Matching app can now work directly with your Dekereke XML database and audio folder
  • Blank Value Handling: Empty/blank values now display as "(blank)" in hierarchy trees and filters
  • Multi-Word Move: Select and move multiple words at once in the Manage Queue modal
