Yes — each recording has a delete button directly in the app. You can also simply record again, which overwrites the existing file automatically.
Yes — each recording has an edit button that opens that recording in Ocenaudio, where you can trim, adjust volume, or make other edits.
Yes. Recording again immediately replaces the existing file for that stimulus item. There is no way to keep multiple takes — the new recording overwrites the old one the moment it is captured.
Yes. The app saves every recording the moment it is captured. There is no File → Save step.
Recordings are matched to stimulus files by filename. When you record a response to a video or image, the app saves a .wav file with the same name as the stimulus file — in the same folder. For example, a response to clip01.mp4 is saved as clip01.wav, and a response to photo03.jpg is saved as photo03.jpg.wav.
Important: If you rename a stimulus file after recording a response, the app will no longer be able to find that recording.
Files are sorted by filename, which automatically matches the order in your stimulus set's file list. If you need to change the display order, rename the files with leading-zero numbers at the front of the filename (e.g., 01_clip.mp4, 02_clip.mp4).
Important: Do this before making any recordings. If you rename a file after recording a response to it, the recording will no longer be matched to that file.
Yes — always open and work through one folder/set at a time. Do not merge multiple sets into a single folder. Sets may contain files with identical filenames, which would cause recordings to overwrite each other.
Images are in a separate tab, not a separate window. The workflow is the same as for videos: click a stimulus item and record. You can double-click any stimulus to view it fullscreen. Image response files follow the same naming convention as video responses, with the full image filename preserved: e.g., photo03.jpg.wav. Switch between the video and image tabs as your stimulus set instructions indicate — typically every 7–8 items.
It exports only the recordings in the currently active tab — either all video responses or all image responses, depending on which tab you have open. Switch tabs and export again to get the other set.
The app uses your system-wide audio input settings — there is no in-app device selector. If you switch to a new recording device, change the input in your Windows Sound settings and then relaunch the app to pick up the change.
No — don't rotate speakers mid-session. One speaker should work through all video stimuli before the images phase begins, so they've seen everything in context.
Yes. The app supports a remote workflow using WhatsApp Desktop:
Note: Audio captured this way is lower quality than a direct recording, and you have less control over the consultant's recording conditions. Direct in-person recording is preferred when possible.
